I love training.
I don’t know when exactly this love first came about, but ever since I’ve been 15-16 years old, I’ve loved lifting weights, following a strict diet, and taking supplements. It started as a way to help me become a better hockey and soccer player, but once I stopped competing, it flipped over to a form of “self-experimentation”.
I’ve worked with Ben Pollack (@phdeadlift) to help me get stronger at the powerlifts (405lbs Squat and Deadlift to a 500lbs Squat and 540lbs Deadlift) and with nutrition coach Justin Harris (@troponinnutrition) to help me get jacked and shredded (got up to 205lbs, then shredded to the bones at 178lbs). Both are coaches I highly respect and learned a tremendous amount from.
Nowadays, I am constantly researching about different training methods and philosophies to help plan my own training, which has helped me bring my deadlift up to 628lbs (don’t ask me about my bench…YET).
I am a strength and conditioning coach for athletes at heart. It will always be my bread and butter and I love it. However, I’m also a “meathead” that is constantly seeking to get bigger, stronger, and leaner.
As a coach, my mission is to help as many people as I can reach their goals and their full potential. However, I realize it’s not feasible to coach everybody, as not everyone might be willing to invest in a coach (which I can understand).
Through this site, whether it be through blog posts or answering questions on the forum, I wanted to create a place where I can share my knowledge, experience, and current research to help others optimize their training to get BETTER results, FASTER.
As much as I want to help people, it’s not as simple as you may think. Many either don’t care to ask (or are scared to, which I understand – I’ve got a bit of a “f*** you face” when I train) or when I do give advice, they don’t care to try what I say. Rather than going out of my way to help someone that might not take what I have to say seriously, I wanted to build a platform that made it easier to help people that are dedicated to getting better. “But Max, what about Instagram?”. I understand Instagram and social media are fast and convenient ways to spread information. However, the information you see BARELY scratches the surface because it’s very difficult to explain something in-depth enough to help you in an Instagram post. Everything needs to be quick and straight to the point.
As you will learn along your journey towards your goal, training, nutrition, or any part of fitness, is EXTREMELY nuanced (it drives my fiancée nuts because my answer to everything is “it depends”). I want to be able to provide as much information, explain the different points of view, and allow you to come up with your own decision based on my recommendations and information. This is very difficult to do in the comment section of an Instagram post. The only person I’ve seen successfully do this is Dante Trudel; however, I’m sure he’d admit it’s very time consuming and not the most convenient for the consumer.
Besides being a platform for educating and discussing amongst other lovers of intense, serious training, I hope to build a community of like-minded individuals and a place where we can all encourage, support, and learn from each other.
Making progress is tough and can be very discouraging when you’re working extremely hard and not seeing the results you hoped to make. You may question what you’re doing and your strategies. Luckily, with the platform, you can ask the community because chances are, someone else has experienced the same difficulties and might have a solution to your problem.
That’s what this was built for and one of the reasons I’m SUPER pumped to get this up and running. Create a common space for men and women, those that people sometimes question their mental sanity (“why are you getting up at 4am to do cardio and eat chicken and rice all day?”) and allow us to help each other experience what our bodies are truly capable of doing.
If you’re someone that takes their fitness, training, and nutrition very seriously, this is the place for you.
I will be posting articles in the Blog section about different subjects I’ve learned about, my opinions on certain matters, and there may be a rant or two in there. For a more personalized experience, join the Subscription Forum to ask any questions related to your own personal 1) training, 2) nutrition/diet, 3) supplementation, and for those that are also strength coaches working with athletes, there is a 4) strength and conditioning section. Once signed up, you have access to ALL four forums.

Train hard folks.
